The Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros meet in the finale of their four game set in MLB action from Globe Life Park on Thursday night.

The Chicago White Sox will look to earn a series split after taking game three on Wednesday by a final score of 9-4. Charlie Tilson had a home run and four RBIs while Eloy Jimenez launched a pair of solo home runs and Jose Abreu added a solo shot of his own as well.

James McCann had a double and an RBI while Yoan Moncada added an RBI of his own to round out Chicago’s offense as a team in the win. Leury Garcia and Tim Anderson each had base hits as well in the victory for the White Sox.

Ivan Nova got the win to improve to 3-4 on the year after allowing three runs on ten hits while striking out three over seven innings of work. Lucas Giolito will start the finale and is 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. In his career, Giolito is 0-3 with a 7.31 ERA and 7 strikeouts against Houston.

The Houston Astros will look to bounce back and take the series after dropping game three on Wednesday. Alex Bregman has a solo home run while Carlos Correa had a double and an RBI. Josh Reddick and Aledmys Diaz each had RBIs as well while Tony Kemp doubled and Robinson Chirinos had two hits.

Jake Marisnick, Tyler White and Michael Brantley each had base hits as well in the loss. Gerrit Cole took the loss, falling to 4-5 on the year after allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out seven over five innings of work. Corbin Marin will start game four and is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season. This will be Martin’s first career start against the White Sox.

Chicago is 4-0 in Giolito’s last 4 starts and 46-105 in their last 151 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 7-1-1 in Giolito’s last 9 road starts against a team with a winning record.
Houston is 23-7 in their last 30 home games and 40-11 in their last 51 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 Thursday games. Chicago is 2-11 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Houston.

I understand Houston being heavily favored because they’re the better team and being at home helps too. However, Martin hasn’t really done enough to be considered this heavy of a favorite in my opinion, even against the White Sox.

Giolito has brutal numbers against the Astros in his career, but his play has vastly improved lately, giving up one run or less in four of his last five starts, including his last three where he’s allowed just two runs over 19.1 innings of work.

I just think Giolito can keep the White Sox in this game long enough that they could steal it, so while I wouldn’t bet this game, I think you could take a shot at the plus money with Chicago and like your chances for an upset.
